YouTube SEO for Indian creators: titles, descriptions and chapters in your language
How to help YouTube show your videos to viewers who search in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam or Hinglish.
YouTube is the second place many Indians search, after Google. Viewers search the way they speak: malayalam cooking recipe, सस्ता स्मार्टफोन 2026, tamil tech review. Your title and description decide whether YouTube connects those searches to your video.
Title
Put the main search phrase near the start, in the words your viewers use. If your audience mixes English letters and their language, a title can carry both — for example a Malayalam title followed by a short English-letter version. Keep it honest: a title that doesn't match the video loses viewers in the first seconds, and YouTube notices.
Description
The first two lines show in search results, so summarise the video there. Then explain what the video covers in a few natural sentences. Add links to related videos and your website.
Chapters
Add timestamps (starting at 0:00) with short titles for each part. Chapters make long videos easier to use and can appear directly in Google results.
Captions in your language
Upload correct captions rather than relying only on automatic ones, which often struggle with Indian languages. Correct captions help viewers and give YouTube more text to understand your video.
Thumbnail
Use a clear face or product, high contrast and very few words — in the language of the video.
