Local SEO for Kerala businesses: get found in Malayalam and Manglish searches
Kerala customers search in Malayalam script, in Manglish and in English. A practical guide to being found in all three.
A customer in Kannur looking for a plumber might type "plumber Kannur", "kannuril plumber" or "കണ്ണൂരിലെ പ്ലംബർ". Most local businesses only appear for the first. The other two are often left to directories — or to nobody.
1. Start with Google Business Profile
Choose the most exact category, add your service areas (district and nearby towns), opening hours including festival days, real photos, and a description that mentions your main services and places in plain words. Reply to every review, in the language it was written in.
2. One page per service and place
A single "Services" page rarely ranks for everything. A page for "Rooftop solar installation in Kannur" with real details — what's included, price range, how long it takes, recent local work — answers that search far better.
3. Add Malayalam, naturally
Write a Malayalam version of your most important pages, written the way your customers speak — not a word-for-word machine translation. Use the Manglish words people actually type, such as "veettil" or "subsidy ethra", where they fit naturally in the text.
4. Make contacting you easy
Most Kerala customers prefer a call or WhatsApp. Put a tap-to-call number and a WhatsApp button at the top of every page, and make sure they work on phones.
5. Check what Google sees
Add your site to Google Search Console, submit your sitemap and watch which searches bring visitors. Those real searches tell you which pages to write next.
Doondo does these checks automatically and prepares Malayalam and Manglish pages for your approval on WhatsApp.
