Launching a new website? How to get it on Google quickly
A step-by-step launch checklist so Google finds, understands and starts showing your new site as soon as possible.
A brand-new website does not appear on Google the moment it goes live. Google first has to discover it, read it and decide when to show it. You cannot force a ranking, but you can remove every delay on your side. Here is the checklist we use.
Before launch
- Use HTTPS on your own domain. A secure address is expected by browsers and by Google.
- One clear topic per page. Each page needs its own title and description that say exactly what it offers — in the language of the page.
- Make it fast on phones. Most Indian visitors arrive on mobile data. Check your site with Google PageSpeed Insights and fix the biggest problems first.
- Create a sitemap and robots.txt. The sitemap lists every page you want found; robots.txt must not block them.
- Mark up language versions. If you have Hindi, Tamil or Malayalam pages, connect them with hreflang tags so each searcher sees the right one.
On launch day
- Verify the site in Google Search Console and submit your sitemap.
- Use URL Inspection to request indexing of your most important pages.
- Verify in Bing Webmaster Tools too — it is free and also feeds other search tools.
- Create or update your Google Business Profile with the new website link.
- Share real links: your WhatsApp Business profile, Instagram and Facebook pages, and any directories or associations you belong to.
The first weeks
Watch the Search Console "Pages" report for anything not indexed and read the reason it gives. Publish helpful articles regularly. New sites usually take weeks to months to rank well for competitive searches — during that time, search ads can bring visitors from day one.
Doondo runs this checklist automatically when it sets up a site, and keeps checking every day afterwards.
