How to show up in AI answers: ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews
More customers now ask AI assistants instead of scrolling search results. Here is what helps your business get mentioned — and what doesn't.
When someone asks an AI assistant "best solar installer near Kannur" or "Kochiyil nalla dental clinic", the answer often names a few businesses directly. Being one of those names is the goal of Answer Engine Optimisation (AEO) and Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO).
No one can guarantee that an AI will mention your business — these systems decide for themselves. But the same things that make you trustworthy to people make you easier for AI systems to find and cite.
What helps
- Clear answers on your own website. Write the questions customers really ask — prices, timings, areas served, how long a job takes — and answer each one plainly in the first sentence, then explain.
- The same facts everywhere. Your business name, address, phone and services should match on your website, Google Business Profile, social pages and directories. Conflicting details make AI systems less sure about you.
- Structured data. Business details, FAQs and articles marked up with schema.org help machines read your page correctly — as long as they match what the page actually says.
- Your customers' languages. Questions are asked in Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil and in English letters. Pages in those languages give AI systems something to quote for those questions.
- Genuine reviews and mentions. Real reviews on Google and mentions on trusted local sites show that real people use your business.
What doesn't help
Stuffing pages with keywords, publishing hundreds of near-identical AI-written pages, or buying fake reviews. These can damage trust with both search engines and customers.
How to check
Ask a few AI assistants the questions your customers ask, in their languages, and note whether your business appears and whether the details are right. Repeat every month; answers change.
Doondo tracks these questions for you, in every Indian language, and shows where your business is — and isn't — being mentioned.
